Education

Applications are now being accepted for the program to become a Notary starting September 2019.

It is recommended that persons interested in applying read the Becoming a Notary Brochure. SFU requires that applicants  have a degree with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Regretfully your application cannot be accepted if you do not meet this requirement.

Preliminary interviews will be scehduled in October, November and December.  For candidates that continue the process, the next stage is an interview with a panel of the Membership Applications and Credentials Committee.

Each year we receive 60 - 80 applications from fully qualified applicants. The SFU program limits the intake to 30 students per year.  The final selection determinations are made after the panel interviews and by the Committee. The applications from those persons selected by the Committee are then sent to SFU. It is rare that SFU will reject a person recommended by the Society, but they do retain the right to require additional education or qualification.
